It all started in 1962, when Dr. David Collison decided to build a farm pond at his 40-acre homestead. Having a life-long interest in golf, Dr. Collison asked if there was enough excess dirt to build a golf green. There was enough, in fact, there was enough for four golf greens which inevitably turned into a four-hole pitch and putt layout.
The first year's effort was so successful that he built the remaining 5 holes within the next year. By 1972, he had created a beautiful 18-hole par 3 golf course - which still stands as one of the only 18 hole par 3 golf courses in the state of Iowa.
Today, the course is still in the family and being run by his son, Mark Collison.
With holes ranging from 250 to 87 yards, Collison Par 3 is a sure joy for all ages and skill levels.
